Our client, a firm specializing in the professional services industry, is looking for a Tax Director to join their team of open and competent professionals. You will report directly to the President, who is energetic, open-minded, enjoys being presented with solutions, and is very attentive. She is the complete opposite of a micro-manager and champions teamwork. You will work in a great multidisciplinary environment where teamwork is a core value. The position is offered on a hybrid basis.
As Tax Director, you will be responsible for developing tax planning strategies and drafting memorandums, reviewing various tax forms (rollover, sales tax forms, etc.), managing tax audit files, and drafting representations to tax authorities. Additionally, you will be the reference for internal staff as you will manage, train, and support a team. You will also follow up with team members regarding the impact of reorganizations on their files and ensure compliance with deadlines. You will also have the opportunity to participate in special mandates (business acquisitions, sales, real estate purchases, expansion projects, etc.) and assign certain aspects of special mandates to internal staff, if required. Furthermore, you will manage tax audit files, draft representations to tax authorities, distribute compliance files among internal staff (if needed), and provide training and mentorship to tax employees. You will also provide advice on tax improvements and analyze internal practices and processes to implement necessary changes to improve the organizational efficiency of the department and the team. You will have the opportunity to build a strong network of contacts as you will be in contact with clients regarding their tax files, as well as with the entire team and partners.
Bilingual CPA, with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in a firm and/or industry, and a master's degree in taxation. Proficiency in MS Office is required. We are looking for a candidate who has strong communication skills and the ability to manage and train a team. The ideal profile demonstrates great autonomy, a strong interest in business, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple files by setting priorities. The candidate is proactive, efficient, and effective, and can work under pressure while meeting deadlines.
